Research Specializations

The Department of Geography specializes in spatial analyses of human and physical environments and the associated sub-fields listed as faculty research interests. This permits a balance between independent and cooperative scholarship. Students seeking admission should take note of these foci.

Research Facilities


20 research libraries in metropolitan Cincinnati with holdings of 6.7 million books.

Behavioral Sciences Laboratory/Institute for Policy Research.

UC Computer Center (AMDAHL 5880 and 5990, COMPTEN 3695, IBM 7171 protocol converters, VAX 11/785 and 6350, DEC 5000) and microcomputer laboratories (IBM-PC and Macintosh)

Geography Department GIS/Remote Sensing/Computer Cartography Lab (Sun Sparc 1000 server, Sun workstations, IBM and DEC microcomputers, CalComp digitizers, HP plotters).
