The Department offers three graduate degrees--the PhD, the MA (thesis and non-thesis options), and the MA jointly with the Master of Community Planning (MCP). A Certificate in Historic Preservation may be pursued concurrently. Graduate research is focused on Third World development, multinational corporations and industrial location, global environmental quality, urban ecology, urban restructuring, historical-cultural geography, and applications of geographic information systems (GIS).
At present there are 14 students pursuing M.A. degrees and 24 pursuing Ph.D.
